Film “View from the Top” (USA, 2003)

Donna, a small-town girl and the main character of the film, comes from what is, to put it mildly, a troubled family, and she dreamed… Since childhood she dreamed of leaving, of running far away from her family, her home, the town where she grew up, finished school and worked. The dream of escaping her problems remains just a dream, and life remains a Groundhog Day, until the dream takes shape and turns into clearly formulated goals. And a string of negative events is a kind of kick to do something differently.

The main question is: “How?” That is the heroine’s request. And the answer comes: a book. And a mentor appears.

The Universe is always ready to give us a hint, a sign, opportunities, and a path appears, a clue. A picture of what to move toward.

But you have to know how to read the signs and, most importantly, to ACT. To take the first step. To open the first door to opportunity. But we take for ourselves what resonates with our soul, our heart.

The theme of small steps runs very clearly and distinctly through the film. Take small steps toward your big dream, but take them every day. And you develop the skill of getting results.

And as she moves toward her big dream, she focuses on giving and on service.

The principle of Donna’s mentor: “Set your goals not on making dollars, but on treating your customers like royalty!” This principle applies to any business and any goals. Turn your work and your communication into a soaring flight.

At her workplace Donna creates royal service for all passengers, VIP and ordinary alike.

– Listen, take it all in, explain! – another piece of her mentor’s advice.

And when she attaches great importance to her goals, a very strong inner attachment appears, a hook, and troubles begin in her life: life “unties” her. And so our heroine, too, goes through tests. Through states of compassion for other people and a sense of gratitude, she passes them with dignity.

And what should you do if it seems there is no way out?

Lucky? Unlucky?

The whole point lies in blocking beliefs. A universal formula: do everything possible for 90%, and leave 10% to the will of God.

And here it is, the dream-goal from the pictures of a girl from a troubled family: the view outside the window. “I thought Paris and first class would give me happiness. But it’s not so,” the main character says sadly.

So how, then?

And what do you think of the ending of the film?

Be sure to watch this film.

I recommend it for family viewing.
