The ancient religious and spiritual scholars of the world’s peoples, the mystics and philosophers of the East, poets, writers and artists throughout all of human history have sung of unconditional love between a man and a woman, affirming that the soul at its creation united within itself both the masculine and the feminine principle and thus reflected the dual nature of the Creator.
We, beings of the male and female sex, are descendants of the Eternal Universal Feminine and the Eternal Universal Masculine principles. The Creator embodies both the Father and the Mother through the interaction of the masculine and feminine principles, and divides His single Spirit into a multitude of “little grains of sand” in His likeness. Each of them divides into two opposite energies – masculine and feminine. But each of the parts keeps within itself the seed of its polar half. By the Creator’s design, the two halves of one soul set off on a long journey to walk their path of knowledge, revealing their divine nature, in order to complement each other later on. Identity and complementarity are the two divine driving forces and the two divine pillars of love…
Twin flames are one in their nature; they share a single energy system, and it is so common to both that when these people meet, they feel their oneness in everything. At the soul level it is as if one feels and knows the other from within: all their emotions, thoughts, habits, character, the subtle shades of their sensations and desires.
Intuitively, nature prompts twin flames to seek their true other half. And if both people are at roughly the same spiritual level of development, they can hear each other’s inner call, and their spiritual energetic magnets will surely attract each other. When this beautiful and thrilling event takes place and the twin souls find each other, an electromagnetic circuit closes on the unseen energetic level; the masculine and the feminine principles reunite, and this gives rise to an enormous spiritual power that each of the twin flames receives as they merge.
Souls strive for their completeness; every life in the universe longs for it. This is the main purpose of our entire endless journey through the universe – to expand the consciousness of God and to return to Unity and Wholeness.
That is why each of us carries within the memory of our eternal “other half”. This image may not be entirely clear, but it is always present in the memory of our souls. We come to earth with the faint hope of finding our twin soul, who will accept and love us without conditions, demands and expectations. With this soul, and only with it, can we unite in complete harmony and bliss.

Unfortunately, unions of twin souls are rare. Usually people form unions with a karmic partner. Sometimes with a soul mate. Soul mates are souls that belong to the same cosmic family, and, just like twins, they can live long and happily in harmony and joy. But a person may meet many soul mates, and in different bodies: brothers, sisters, friends, parents. Twin souls incarnate in different families, and the eternal “halves” never incarnate as parent and child or as brother and sister. The union of twins is a union of love. Poets called them “immortal lovers”.
The union of karmic teachers is diametrically different from the union of twin souls and soul mates.
Here the partners do not understand or accept each other; they live by different life principles and interests. This leads to problems in the relationship that keep repeating, increasing mutual resentments and grievances against each other.
Often such relationships are built and held together for the sake of the children or out of fear of losing the status of a complete family. In these relationships there is no unconditional love and support.
In the soul of each of the spouse-teachers there is an anxious dependence and, at the same time, a dissatisfaction that makes living as one family difficult and painful.
In such relationships there are many mutual grievances and much jealousy. The partners’ freedom is limited. This keeps them both from developing creatively.
Habit, fear of the unknown – and there is no strength to part; karmic teachers go on living together, often passing off such a relationship as love and unconditional acceptance. But such a union is held together by karmic debts from past incarnations and by unresolved problems in this current shared reality.
