“The Secret Scripture” (Ireland, 2016)

Roseanne McNulty is placed in a psychiatric hospital as a young woman, and there she spends most of her life.
Fleeing the war, a young, beautiful, cheerful girl comes to her hometown, to the only relative she has — her aunt. It is a provincial town where strict morals reign. Bright, independent and unlike the local girls, Roseanne draws men to her like a magnet. But she has a beloved, Michael McNulty. They are endlessly happy and filled with love.
What could have happened for her to end up in a psychiatric hospital in the bloom of her youth and beauty?
Now the heroine is old, all white-haired, with pale blue eyes — a mysterious patient of the hospital, whose story has caught the interest of the new young chief physician, Dr. Grene. She has been within the walls of this hospital for so long that neither the staff nor the former chief physician remember her diagnosis. The doctor realizes that only Roseanne, who has kept a clear mind and an excellent memory, can answer all his questions. In the hospital she kept a diary, written between the lines of an old Bible, in which she recorded her memories and thoughts. With great interest the doctor immerses himself in the elderly lady’s story.
“The Secret Scripture” is a beautiful and cruel drama, an incredible story of love and betrayal, of resilience and passion, of suffering and endless faith in a miracle. And the miracle happens!
Watch and enjoy!
With love, Tatiana.
