When speaking of Irish folk music, its beauty and diversity, one must certainly mention the ensemble The Chieftains.
It is one of the most popular folk bands in Ireland, and one of the few that have managed to bring Irish folk music to the world stage.
The name “The Chieftains” was taken from the collection of stories “Death of a Chieftain” by the Irish writer John Montague.
The band has been performing since 1963. Over this time it has won 6 Grammys (out of 18 nominations), as well as Oscar, Emmy and Genie awards and many others.
If you have a soft spot for the folk music of Ireland, The Chieftains will be a perfect treat for your ears!
