When talking about new age music, how could one not mention the famous Japanese composer Kitaro?
His music is steeped in Eastern beauty and tenderness. Having no musical education, he was able to show that the beauty of music lies in feelings and emotions, not in learning theory by rote. He succeeded in combining Western music technology with Eastern melody.
As Kitaro himself says: “My main task as a musician is to carry the magic of the music of the cosmos through my body and pass it on to the listener.”
His discography includes a huge number of albums. In 2000, Kitaro received a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album.
