Howard, one of the owners of a thriving New York advertising firm, proclaims the three pillars on which advertising and all of life are built: Love, Time and Death.
After the death of his daughter and his divorce, Howard falls into a deep depression. He still goes to the office, but he talks to no one and spends hours on end building structures out of dominoes. The successful firm gradually slides toward the abyss of ruin.
During this time he has written three letters — to Time, to Love and to Death — and his worried partners find out about them. They decide to carry out a daring plan: to shake Howard up and save the firm, and themselves, from financial collapse. The partners could not even imagine that the idea would work in a most striking way for each of them and turn their lives upside down.
For their plan they hire three actors who are to meet the main character, answer the reproaches in his letters and get him to talk.
“Collateral Beauty” is a very subtle, lyrical film.
And what is this notion of “collateral beauty” when we are speaking of the death of a child? It cannot be touched with the hands or put into words, but it is inside each of us.
The film, directed by David Frankel, features a powerful cast: Will Smith, Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and others.
Wonderful words of Love in the final dialogues.
Love is life, our life.
Watch and enjoy!
With love, Tatiana.
