“The Holiday” (USA, 2006)

One of the film’s two heroines, IRIS, works for a London newspaper and writes its wedding column. She lives outside London, in the countryside, in a small, cozy cottage. She is also in love with a man who does not return her feelings and is about to get married.

The film’s second heroine, Amanda, lives in Southern California and finds herself in a similar situation. She owns an advertising company, but her personal life is a disaster: the man she loves is cheating on her.

Having reached a dead end in their personal lives, both heroines come to the idea of changing their lives and doing something unusual. Both end up on a travel and home-exchange website. Suddenly and quickly, they decide to swap homes for the holidays.

And it is during this holiday that a completely new life begins for each of them, and new relationships are born.

The film is kind, wonderfully light, full of humor and very sincere. It is a story about love that inspires and brings joy. Despite their experience of disappointment and pain, and long love affairs that came to nothing, the heroines face the question: where can love be found, and how can they avoid making a mistake again? And are there relationships without problems and without having to overcome oneself? Should they LET GO of the past, or try to bring everything back?

A wonderful cast: Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Eli Wallach, Jack Black — beautiful, clever and charming.

One of the best romantic comedies ever made for women, it is sure to lift your spirits.

Watch and enjoy!

With love, Tatiana.
