“The Age of Adaline” (USA, 2015)

The main character of the film, Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively), was born in 1908 in San Francisco and lived a perfectly ordinary life: she finished school, got married, gave birth to a daughter and buried her husband.

In 1937, driving out at night, she is caught in a natural anomaly. Snow falls in California at that time, and her car skids on a country highway and is thrown into a river; Adaline drowns, and in that very second lightning strikes. The young woman survives, but over time she discovers an amazing ability of her body: not to age.

The dream of many women of all times comes true: to look forever young and beautiful.

But the youthful appearance of a woman over 45 arouses the suspicion of the authorities. Adaline is forced to change her place of residence, her profession and even her name every 10 years.

And it is hard to feel young and happy when everyone around you grows old and dies. Even her own daughter looks almost like a great-grandmother. And the heroine herself is endlessly lonely. Eternal youth without love and a loved one is empty and meaningless.

But fate sends her a young man with whom she falls in love, and she is ready to reveal her secret.

The film is romantic and touching, emotional and heartfelt.

The theme of love and loneliness touches both women and men. And the scene in which H. Ford’s character declares his love for his no-longer-young wife is moving and inspiring.

Is immortality a gift or a punishment?

And do we have an extra hundred years to express our love and gratitude to those close to us?

Watch and enjoy!

With love, Tatyana.
