African music is known for its originality and changeability. Complex rhythms, musical modes unlike European ones.
The music of this continent breathed life and inspiration into such musical genres as rock and roll, blues, jazz and funk.
It uses a wide variety of musical instruments: percussion (drums, xylophones, sansa), wind (flutes, horns) and strings (gora, kora, mvet and others).
Since many African languages are tonal, this has played an important role in the singing of African melodies (through the lowering or raising of pitch).
